Make MindMap

Back

The First Time you open the app you will be greeted with this screen. To make a new mindmap you will need to click the plus button at the top right hand corner. (The iPad will not have any animation aside from clearing the canvas. Just start double tapping to make nodes)

The next screen is where you will create the mindmap. Double tap where you want to create the node anywhere on the graph paper. You an scroll around and the graph paper will grow and shrink in size depending on how big your mindmap is.

You can hold down on any of the nodes to drag them around and move them. Click undo to undo the last action and click redo to redo the last action. Click the trash icon to delete the node and its subnodes. Click undo if you didnt mean to delete it ;)

***To Edit the node's text, quickly tap the Node. Moving the node will be temporarily disables so that you can fully edit the text with cut, copy, paste, and magnifying glass functionality. Click outside the node to exit editing mode.

Click the red "Edit" button at the middle right of the screen to bring up a menu of attributes that can be applied to the individual node.

The top cell allows you to change the color of the node. The second button lets you pick an image to add to the node. You can also set a start and end date if the node has time constraints and add Notes.

At the top right of the "mindmap" screen there is a box with an arrow. If you click that button it will give you the export options. You can Print to an airprint anabled printer. Save as a PDF to dropbox. Save to your photo album. And email.

When you click "Email" you will be given three formats to choose from. You can: email as an image, email a PDF, and email a BSMM file. The BSMM file is the file format that iBrainstormer uses. It will allows the person that you send it to to edit the mindmap if they have the app.

Use Dropbox

Back

The second tab at the bottom gives you access to your dropbox account if you have one. If you do not have one you can go to www.dropbox.com

At first you will only be able to click the "Link Dropbox" button. The "Browse Files" button will be greyed out until a link is made.

Click "Link Dropbox"

You will be brought to Dropbox's login page. If you do not have an account click "Need a dropbox account?"

Enter your credentials. (Username and Password) Click Login.

(Note: If you have the dropbox app it will simply ask for your permission to allow iBrainstormer to use dropbox).

Dropbox will ask you if you want to allow iBrainstormer access. Click "Allow".

Now you can click "Browse Files". It will only show mindmaps that you have uploaded before.

Uploading a mindmap is easy. Click the local files tab at the bottom left and then click the tiny cloud icon next to the mindmap that you want to upload.

Back in the dropbox tab you can click any of the mindmaps to download them to your device.

Use BUMP

Back

BUMP allows you to literally bump your device with another persons device to transfer mindmaps.

First make sure that you and the other person both have the iBrainstormer app.

If you are sending a file then simply click the file you wish to send. If you are only recieving a file and you do not want to send one then click the "BUMP!" button at the top right.

iBrainstormer will ask to use your current location. Click OK.

Make sure that you and the other person see this screen. Then just bump your devices together.

You will recieve a success message if it went through ok.

You can easily delete a mind-map by swiping left on the file name and clicking delete or by clicking "edit" at the top right and clicking delete on the file you want to delete.

Troubleshooting

Back

Currently I have not recieved enough issues to make a comprehensive troubleshooting page, but most of the time reinstalling the app or updating to the latest iOS fixes the problem.

Click on Settings -> General -> Advanced.

Scroll down and you will see version. It would be best (not required) if you have version 5.1 listed there.

iPad Plus Button Not Working?

It may seem like its not working, but if you have not made a new mindmap then all you have to do is start making one on the iPad. When you have a mindmap up the plus button will clear the screen and save the previous mind map for you to make a new one.
